Retainers

Congratulations on completion of your orthodontic treatment! Your teeth will be slightly unstable following the removal of your braces and may attempt to move back to their original position.  After your braces are removed, a positioner or retainer is placed to prevent relapse.

Retainers are a MUST! Full cooperation in wearing these appliances is vital.

Retainer design and styles may be chosen by patient from a wide variety of colors, symbols, and fun decorations.

How to keep your new smile for a lifetime:

*Wear your retainer 10 – 12 hours every night.
*Brush your retainer with your toothbrush and tooth paste daily.
*Never boil your retainer. Use denture cleanser occasionally.
*Always place retainer in case when not in your mouth.
*Our pets love them too. Keep your retainer out of their reach.
*Never eat or drink with retainer in place.

*Never Wrap retainer in napkin, place on lunch tray, or put in your pocket, backpack, purse or leave in the car   due to heat damage.

Dr. Jen will continue to check your retainer for six months after braces are removed. Always bring your retainer(s) to your appointments. If your retainer does not fit properly, you misplace it, or break it, call us as soon as possible for repair or replacement.

Your long-term orthodontic sucess is up to you, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far!
